We have all used Eucalyptus for healing and health. So while you are probably familiar with it, you don’t know it is good for skincare. Here, we are going to explore how to use this wonderful ingredient for skin care.
We have used Eucalyptus for nasal congestion, for clearing sinus, for cold and flu or even for mild aches and pains. When applied on the skin, it creates a mild cooling sensation, but not as cooling as menthol. More than this, we have probably noticed that it generates heat when rubbed on the skin. That’s why we use it in cold rubs right? It is attributed to the stimulating property of the Eucalyptus, which is one of the reasons it is great for hair care.
We got a lot of questions I added Eucalyptus in hair care recipes. I was surprised with the number of people asking why Eucalyptus, so much so, that I decided to do a feature on this wonderful ingredient. For all those who wrote to us asking for this piece, here you go!
A Brief About Eucalyptus
Though they’re considered native to Australia, they grow around the world. It requires very less water and often seen along either side of the roads, forests and other natural vegetation. The oil is extracted through distillation from the leaves of Eucalyptus tree and exhibits antifungal, antimicrobial and herbicidal properties.
Eucalyptus Oil vs. Eucalyptus Essential Oil
Eucalyptus Oil is different from Eucalyptus Essential Oil. It isn’t as concentrated or strong and can be used on the skin directly. On the other hand, Eucalyptus Essential Oil should be diluted before use. Pet lovers – Eucalyptus Oil is toxic to certain breeds and animals- especially cats, dogs and horses. SO keep it out of their reach!
