Preparing a hair oil doesn’t have to be daunting or difficult to really work. Some times, simple recipes with less ingredients can work wonders, while comprehensive and cumbersome recipes yield no results.

The key to results when it comes to using natural resources for your health and well-being is choosing them right – based on your requirements, body type, usage, etc.

What might work for you might not work, or work the same way for me. So trial and errors are part and parcel of going the natural route to care for your hair, skin or health. Here’s a simple but nice recipe for your hair. Try and see 😉 you might like the results or at least the way your hair smells after ☺

Ingredients

Coconut Oil – 200 Ml
Castor Oil – 50 Ml
Phyllanthus Niruri Leaves – 2 small plants
Curry Leaves – a handful
False Daisy Leaves – a handful
Hibiscus Flowers – 3 – 5
Rose Flowers – a handful

Instructions

In a deep iron pan, add the oil and heat it.

When it is hot, add all the ingredients listed above.

Simmer the oil till the oil changes color – deep green – black and wait till all the moisture is gone.

Let it cool down.

Filter and transfer to a sterilized jar.

Done!

Instructions

Brush or comb through your hair using a wide-toothed comb to detangle your hair and also, to remove any buildup on your scalp.

Take a spoon or two of the oil – depends on your hair length and other factors.

Apply this oil to your scalp massaging gently.

Work your way through the strands – using up the oil remaining on your hands and coat the strands till the tips – tips are very important.

When your scalp is sufficiently oiled, wrap it with a shower cap and wait for 30 – 45 minutes. You can shower anytime after 15 – 20 minutes, especially if you are prone to cold and don’t want to let castor oil sit longer than it has to.

Wash your hair with herbal hair wash powder or a mild shampoo and air dry.

Once dry, follow-up with your hair oil if you are using one – applying hair oil right after drying your hair works best.

Why These Ingredients?

All the ingredients listed here are great for hair and are natural. The rose buds add a nice aroma to the oil and also benefits for your hair. It leaves your hair smelling of roses and also relaxes your mind.

Is this is a Pre-shower or Post-shower Hair Oil?

Since castor oil is used, I recommend using it as a pre-shower treatment. However, if you want to use it after drying your hair, skip castor oil. Castor oil is dense and can leave your hair limp – especially if you have thinning hair. However, it is a great way to strengthen your hair or grow out, so try using it before washing your hair like suggested.
