Tips to Tweak the Recipe
You can jus stick with Hydrosols if you don’t want to shake it before every use.
If you like Glycerin, adding it in helps keep the essential oils intact without separating according to some. You can give it a try. Doesn’t hurt that Glycerin is a good moisturizer and humectant.
You can pick and choose any essential oil you like for this recipe – the key is getting refreshing aroma that will perk you up and leave your hair feeling soft and moisturized.
If you’re planning to refrigerate the recipe, Tender Coconut Water is a good addition. I haven’t tried it personally due to the sweetness in Tender Coconut Water but as a rinse, it always left my hair soft and shiny.
Some essential oils are photosensitive. Those can lighten your hair and if you color your hair alter the hue. So, check that before you step out.
You can also add a dash of salt for slightly wavy locks.
If you want defined curls you can add a dash of Magnesium Flakes or Epsom Salt – whatever you get easily, both work cur defining curls albeit in different ways.
Those who want to nourish your hair, you can add hair beneficial hydrosols – horsetail extract, spikenard extract, even green tea works. You can also prepare your own floral teas instead of using essential oils for a fully water-based hair mist.
How to Use the Hair Mist?
Just spray on your hair and style as usual. You can also gently massage it on your scalp – especially good when you tweak the recipe for nourishing and strengthening hair or scalp. It’s a good idea not to use heat after spraying this, so spray just enough so you don’t have to wait till your hair dries off to style it.
