DIY Mint Hair Oil for Frizzy Hair

I wanted something simple and easy, yet effective for my frizzy, dry and lifeless hair. Natural and effective, this is just what you need for your crowning glory.

This recipe is very simple to prepare and you need very few ingredients. The herbs should be organic or homegrown for best results.

Ingredients

Mint Leaves – dry or fresh – a bunch

Rosemary Leaves – dry or fresh – a bunch

Horsetail Leaves – dry or fresh – a bunch

Castor Oil – 1 Tsp.

Argan Oil – 1 Tsp.

Sweet Almond Hair Oil – 250 Ml

Instructions

If you are using fresh herbs, wash and let them air dry fully. If you are using dry herbs, skip this step.

Then, add the oils listed above to a sterilized glass jar except Argan Oil.

Add the herbs listed above in it and cover the jar with cheesecloth.

Keep it in the sun during the day and inside closed with a lid at night.

Do this back and forth till the oil is fully infused with the herbs – takes a week to three weeks depending on where you live.

Once the oil changes color, you can filter the oil to a sterilized container.

Add the Argan Oil to it and use as needed.

Tips to Tweak the Recipe

You can choose herbs of your choice – Hibiscus Leaves and Flowers, Henna, False Daisy, Margosa, Thyme, etc. are a few herbs that are good for hair and scalp.

You can choose a carrier oil of your choice – Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, Avocado Oil, Apricot Oil or whatever oil suits you, is available to you and affordable, work too. You don’t have to use Almond Oil, any carrier oil that’s good for hair and scalp is good.

Why These Ingredients?

One of the best herbs for hair that’s been used for centuries, Rosemary is rich in Antioxdants, protects hair from radical sun damage and an ideal defense for your hair and scalp – thanks to its antibacterial properties. It is also an excellent hair tonic that promotes hair growth and curbs hair fall.

Mint doesn’t really get a lot of attention in the hair care arena, but that’s a real shame! Mint can stimulate your hair follicles and get your hair and scalp energized. It promotes hair growth, balances scalp’s pH levels, curbs excess oil secretion and also keeps your hair and scalp happy.

Horsetail is a real treat for those who love their locks and love it long! If you want longer, happier and healthier hair, Horsetail herb is a great ingredient in your hair care routine.

We’ve already covered about the oils a lot, so we’re not going to repeat that here and bore you guys!

How to Use the Oil?

Just apply on your hair and fix bad hair day, frizz or dryness and strengthen your hair, while you’re at it!

Alternatively, you can also massage this oil to your scalp and work your way through to the tips. Let it sit for an night, or 30 minutes before washing off.

However, since the oil is light, you can also use this after shower.
