I wanted a leave-in conditioner that would smell fresh and good? What better season than Spring to inspire it?
So, I wanted a few things from the conditioner – moisturization, sealing in moisture, fresh smell and of course, soft, smooth and silky hair. This works as a great leave-in for those with fine hair and doesn’t weigh down your hair.
Ingredients
Argan Oil – 1 Tbsp.
Grapeseed Oil – 1 Tbsp.
Apricot Oil – 1 Tsp.
Avocado Oil – ½ Tsp.
Tangerine Essential Oil – 3 Drops
Sweet Marjoram Essential Oil – 3 Drops
Vetiver Essential Oil – 1 Drop
Instructions
Nothing much! Just add all the ingredients to a sterilized dark amber glass bottle with dropper and shake gently.
Let it sit for a few hours to two days, to combine well.
Done!
How to Use the Conditioner?
Take a few drops of this conditioner in your palm. Rub them together for a few seconds – rapid motions to warm up the oil. Apply to your strands. Style as usual.
Why These Ingredients?
This conditioner leaves your hair shiny and soft without weighing it down.
It’s light and conditioning making it ideal for thin or fine hair.
Smells fresh and keeps you active and energetic.
Makes detangling easy and good for your hair.
Tips to Tweak the Recipe
You can also use Watermelon Seed Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Jojoba Oil, etc.
You can also use other carrier oils depending on their availability, suitability and preference. Coconut Oil, Olive Oil, Sunflower Oil, Organic Soya Oil, Sesame Oil, Hemp Seed Oil, Vitamin E Oil, etc. are other possible options depending on your hair and scalp type.
The choice of essential oils is purely based on personal preference and requirement. I wanted it fruity and smelling fresh, so these choices. Rosemary, Sandalwood Oil, Ylang Ylang, Cedarwood Essential Oil, Peppermint Essential Oil, Citrus Oils – Lemon, Lime, Orange, Neroli, etc., Juniper Berry Essential Oil, Lavender Essential Oil, Myrrh Essential Oil, Basil Oil, Spikenard Essential Oil, etc. are few options you can consider.
You can also add a few drops of Vitamin E Oil though I added Vitamin E rich lighter oils for this recipe.
Instead of adding multiple carrier oils you can also stick with one or two carrier oils alone, if you prefer that way. Go with nourishing and comprehensive oil like Argan that can work well as a standalone.
Shelf Life
The shelf life of the recipe is according to the ingredients. I prefer small fresh batches every week or two, though you can safely keep the recipe for a month or two – depends on the ingredients and their shelf lives. Some ingredients have shorter shelf life like Rosehip / Wheat Germ and need Vitamin E to keep it stable. So choose the ingredients according to the shelf life you want from it.
I have heard adding Multivitamin Tablet powders to hair sprays and serums can work wonders for hair health, though I haven’t tried it. If you try it, do let us know how it works!
