Brahmi also called Indian Pennywort is widely used in Hair Care for improving hair growth. Most Ayurveda preparations use this herb for promoting healthier hair and scalp.
So, Indian Pennywort is more known and used for its ability to improve brainpower and memory. However, it’s contribution to hair care isn’t any less. Let’s take a look at the recipe first and then move to the details. Shall we?

How to Use the Oil?
You could give a weekly hot oil massage with this oil for good results. I prefer to add some Castor Oil if I use it as a pre-shower treatment, and a few drops of Wrightia Tinctoria when I need to keep scalp issues at bay.
Tips to Tweak The Recipe
You can use any carrier oil of your choice for this oil – Sesame Oil, Sunflower Oil, Argan Oil, Olive Oil, etc. Depending on the oil you choose the method can slightly vary – you can’t heat argan oil for example.
I like to infuse the oil instead of heat it up. Since I can get fresh Indian Pennywort, I go with infusion. I dry some Pennywort Leaves, along with Rose Petals and then add it to the oil I want to use. I also powder Onion and Fenugreek Seeds and add it during the infusion process. This really works wonders – try it.
You can add other ingredients per your requirement – Margosa leaves for lice or dandruff, Margosa Oil for dandruff, Holy Basil leaves for healthy hair and scalp, False Daisy for hair growth, Camphor for dandruff, Curry Leaves for promoting hair growth and curbing hair loss, Mint to promote hair growth, so on and so forth. The options are endless with DIY and you can knock yourself out while trying to find out what works for you best ☺
Shelf Life
This oil lasts a good six months to a year, and I like to prepare larger batches during busy seasons and smaller ones for when I have time to prepare this frequently.
