When hair dry and dull it needs a little TLC along with moisturization. So, how do you do it?
What better way to nourish, moisturize and pamper your hair than with Honey? I absolutely love how it leaves my hair or skin soft and supple. Most of us will have a stash of honey handy, so there’s nothing much to worry about whipping up this mask. Want to know what other ingredients we need for this? Let’s take a look, shall we?
Ingredients
Honey – 4 Tbsp.
Argan Oil – 1 Tsp.
Coconut Oil – 2 Tsps.
Coconut Milk – 1 Tbsp.
Instructions
Warm up the honey slightly – this step is optional and is to prevent from lightening of hair when using honey. Those with dark hair should preferably warm it up – keep it lukewarm not warm or hot. Too much heat will destroy the goodness of honey. You just need to slightly warm it to negate the lightening or bleaching effect of honey on hair. Those with blonde or silver or platinum locks can skip this step.
Just mix up all the ingredients and you’re done.
Coconut Milk can be added as much as you need – it is to loosen up the mask and make it more liable and easier to apply.
Tips to Tweak the Recipe
You can also add other ingredients according to your requirement or preference.
– Essential Oils – Add aroma and depends on what oil you use, can also bring their own benefits to the recipe. Rosemary, Myrrh, Lavender, Peppermint, Eucalyptus, etc. are good for your hair. Lavender is especially good for soothing dry and damaged hair.
– Yogurt – Rich in nutrients and a very good natural moisturizer and mild cleanser Yogurt is a comprehensive ingredient for hair care. It is a great addition to this moisturizing and nourishing mask.
– You can also add Milk, Glycerin, Rose Water, Coconut Cream or even Buttermilk to this recipe. They add their own benefits to the recipe and make the mask more pliable.
– You can even your multivitamins in this. One of my friends used to add a multivitamin to her hair packs and said it improved her hair growth. As long as you use natural supplements and nutraceuticals it’s all-good.
Instead of Honey you can also use Molasses for this mask. It works well too. Or you can add it additionally to honey. I like that Molasses doesn’t lighten hair and choose that more often for this pack.
Likewise the choice of Carrier Oil is what works for you. Avocado Oil, Apricot Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Sesame Oil, Soybean Oil, Castor Oil, etc. I went with Coconut Oil as it is readily available though you can use any carrier oil. I particularly love Avocado and Castor Oil, along with Sweet Almond Oil for this pack. The best oils to curb dryness include Olive Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Coconut Oil, etc. Avocado is great to also add shine, not just moisture.
You can also add some Banana or Avocado (mashed to this pack).
How to Use the Pack?
Apply the pack on your strands and wait for 25 minutes before washing off.
