If your hair is brittle, or after a dip in the pool or ocean, or if chemicals leave your hair damaged, you need to strengthen and nourish your hair.
During summers and winters hair needs special nourishment and care. Also styling and using chemical products on your hair can leave your hair damaged or dry. I always prefer conditioning my hair regularly, especially when it needs extra care and attention – summers, winters, after a swim, etc.
I use a simple and easy nourishing and strengthening recipe for that very purpose. Want to know more?
Ingredients
Argan Oil – 1 Tsp.
Olive Oil – 1 Tbsp.
Honey – 1 Tbsp.
Sesame Oil – 3 Tbsp.
Magnesium Flakes – 1 Tsp.
Castor Oil – 1 Tsp.
Avocado Oil – 1 Tsp.
Rosemary Essential Oil – a few drops
Instructions
There are two ways to do this – one, you can powder the Magnesium Flakes and use it, or use it as is.
Heat Olive Oil, Sesame Oil and Castor Oil along with Magnesium Flakes in your double boiler.
When slightly warm – most likely the flakes or powdered magnesium would be almost combined with oil by now, remove from heat.
Add it to your blender after a few seconds (to let it cool down a bit) along with all the other ingredients – Avocado Oil, Argan Oil, Honey and Rosemary Essential Oil.
Blend on medium-high to combine the ingredients well – basically the magnesium flakes need more help for dissolving.
Done!
How to Use This Oil?
Massage this oil mixture to your scalp gently – it can be slightly gritty, that’s OK.
Wash off hair after 45 minutes.
You can do this once a week.
Tips to Tweak the Recipe
You can choose other oils – Coconut Oil, Soya Bean Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, etc. I have chosen based on my preference and availability here.
The essential oils are again your choice – any hair beneficial essential oil is good. I love Rosemary for its ability to strengthen hair and promote hair growth.
Honey is to combat dryness or frizzy hair, though you can skip it and stick with oils alone.
Yes, you can also use Shea or Cocoa Butter in this recipe. Alter the oil levels accordingly.
