Greasy or oily hair can be embarrassing, difficult to style and needless to say, limp. What if you can get rid of the excess oil and flaunt shiny and voluptuous hair, naturally?
I had this problem with my hair – I oil my hair regularly, but there are times when it looks really oily and limp. I might not have time to wash my hair and want a quick fix for the excess oil, like yesterday.
After a few mishaps where my hair ended up looking haphazard or out of place when heading out, I decided to come up with a quick fix solution for occasions where I can’t wash my hair, but need it looking washed and fresh. That’s how I came up with variations of the Oil Eraser to get rid of grease from my hair.
Besides, there are days when you want to spruce up your hair due to an unexpected outing or meeting. Right? Also, what about those days when you are down with flu and can’t wash your hair? Time to come up with plan B!
Ingredients
Rubbing Alcohol – 3 Tsps.
Arrowroot Powder – 3 Tsps.
Lemon Essential Oil – 5 Drops
Distilled Water – 60 Ml
Instructions
In a mixing bowl, combine the ingredients well – make sure there are no lumps.
Transfer to a spritzer.
Store in a cool dry place!
How to Use It?
Shake the spritzer well, because the mixture tends to get separated often. Spray on your hair. Blow Dry and Brush your hair. Voila! Your hair is shiny and the oil has magically disappeared!
Tips to Tweak the Recipe
You can add any Essential Oil that regulates oil levels like Peppermint Essential Oil, Bergamot Essential Oil, Cedarwood Essential Oil, Tea Tree Essential Oil, Cypress Essential Oil, Eucalyptus Essential Oil, Frankincense Essential Oil, Juniper Berry Essential Oil, Patchouli Essential Oil, Grapefruit Essential Oil, Peppermint Essential Oil, Lemongrass Oil, Basil Essential Oil, Thyme Essential Oil, Sage Essential Oil, Ylang Ylang Essential Oil, etc.
For those who prefer a version without rubbing alcohol, we will be adding a Powder Version and a Liquid Version of this recipe – both without alcohol. Stay tuned for it!
Till those recipes are up, you can use your dry shampoo recipe – or check our dry shampoo recipe here if you missed it ☺ It works equally well. In fact, the powdered version will be very similar, if not identical to the Dry Shampoo recipe depending on what ingredients you use.
Alternatively, have you tried towelling your hair off softly? I sometimes do that. What I do is – wet a towel and softly towel off my hair. I probably add a drop of Essential Oil or Herbal Extract if I wanted aroma or for my hair to look refreshed. Then I let it air dry and brush out for hair that looks like I just washed it.
