DIY Hair Dye Recipes

Coloring one’s hair is one thing most men and women do. It could be for hiding greys or changing their looks. Either way, hair coloring damages one’s hair and leaves it dull and lifeless. What do you say we prepare a natural hair color that works for you?

Black / Deep Brown Hair

Tea

Tea is a very common coloring agent. You can get natural black or dark brown color extract by brewing a strong concoction of tea.

You can add a few teaspoons (depends on how long, thick or dense your hair is and also, your shade) and bring the concoction to a boil. Let it boil for a few minutes so the color fully seeps in. Make sure the concoction is strong.

Apply this to your hair and wait for about 30 minutes and wash off with a mild shampoo. You can do this few times a week till the shade is to your satisfaction, and then use it once or twice a week.

Henna

A common coloring agent used in Henna, it is a herb that is very good for one’s skin and hair. That’s one reason why Indian women use Henna in their fingers, hands and legs – adds aesthetic value and also nourishes the skin.

Henna is now available in a few colors and can be chosen based on one’s hair color preference. The most common colors available are black, red, orange, deep red, brown red, etc.

Applying Henna as a dye is easy – buy dried henna powder and mix water to form a thick paste. Apply on your hair and let it sit for 30 minutes and wash off with a natural or mild shampoo.

Cherry Bark

Brewing a strong concoction of cherry bark is said to give a dark brown – black extract. Use this as a coloring agent or to hide greys.
