Why These Ingredients?

Coconut Oil

Rich in nutrients and a great moisturizer, Coconut Oil doesn’t leave your scalp high and dry after exfoliation. It’s just that extra ingredient you need to make the sugar and salt scrub easier in your scalp. What’s more? It prevents frizz and deals with dandruff too.

Brown Sugar

It’s natural and more nourishing that the refined and processed white sugar. It gets rid of build-up, dead skin cells and also promote better scalp circulation and hair growth – exfoliating scalp opens up follicles for absorption of nourishment.

Epsom Salt

A little addition I like to do to my scrubs for that gritty texture, defined curls and a healthy dose of magnesium to promote hair growth.

ACV

This not only makes your hair soft and shiny, it conditions and most importantly, gets rid of dandruff and build-up. You get frizz-free hair using ACV, as well. What’s there to complain?

Glycerin

A hydrating ingredient that’s needed for those who have sensitive scalp and also, to soothe your scalp and keep it hydrated after scrubbing.

Tips to Tweak the Recipe

You can pick and choose the Essential Oils that work for you best. I picked based on their benefits, though you can add them just for their aroma and relax. Spa at home with relaxing aromas, right?

You can choose carrier oil that’s available for you locally, or one you like. Basically the oil helps with smoothing out the exfoliation process so you don’t have irritated or inflamed scalp. Yes, the reddish aftermath that can happen with exfoliation when one scrubs too much, or skips oils.

You can also throw in hair care herbs or buds or even swap the ingredients to suit you better.
