Recipe: DIY Exfoliating Argan Oil Mask
Ingredients
Argan Oil – 2 Tsp.
Milk – 2 – 4 Tbsp. (Fresh and Raw)
Egg – 1 (White Only)
Sugar – 4 Tsp
Oat Meal – 1 Tsp.
Method
Take a mixing bowl and a whisk to blend the ingredients.
Now, break the egg and separate the yolk from egg white. Add the egg white to the mixing bowl.
Egg white feels like a jelly, so it’s a good idea to use a whisk and beat it before pouring in milk.
Now, add milk, sugar and argan oil and whisk well.
Use a blender to make the oatmeal into a coarse powder and add that to the mixture.
Mix and apply the mask to clean and dry face.
Massage your face in circular motion as you apply, without applying too much pressure.
Make sure the mask is applied evenly and let it sit for about 20 minutes.
Wash off and pat dry. Follow up with a moisturizer, since it is very important after exfoliating.
So, what’s special about the mask?
Argan Oil
We have written a lot about Argan oil and how great it is for your skin! It’s a great moisturizer, reduces the appearance of scars and lightens existing scars, reduces acne outbreaks and also, reduces aging signs like fine lines and wrinkles. What’s not to like about it? Besides, you don’t need to dab a lot of Argan oil to get the benefits. Remember: With Argan oil, little goes a long way.
Milk
Milk is a great cleanser, moisturizer and skin lightener. It can also soothe suntan. When you add milk to the mask, it cleanses your face naturally and also, moisturizes it. So, your skin will not be dry after use. It is also very nutritious and hence, nourishes your skin.
That’s not all! It reduces inflammation and irritation, so it’s great for acne prone skin too. It makes your skin soft and shiny, besides delaying aging signs. Now you know why Cleopatra swore by its benefits for maintaining her beauty! Choose whole milk for your skin (unless you have very oily skin) and toned milk for your body (consumption).
Egg
Many think is messy and not many like to put it on their face! However, egg white has many benefits. Besides, egg white does not stink for most part and is tolerable as a mask! Egg white tightens your skin and is an excellent way to lift a tired face. It reduces your pore size and cleanses your skin naturally.
Many say it reduces acne outbreak with regular usage. Many fear putting raw egg whites owing to the bacteria content. You can choose pasteurized eggs instead!
Sugar
Not only does it exfoliate your skin, it also leaves it soft and supple. It restores skin’s oil balance and helps eliminate toxins. If you think sugar crystals are large, use a blender to powder them before using. Brown sugar or white sugar works well, though we recommend brown sugar.
Oatmeal
There are many advantages of using oatmeal in this mask, besides the exfoliation benefits. It’s a great cleanser, yet will leave your skin soft and glowing post use. It helps soothe inflamed skin, reduces acne and curbs many skin problems owing to its antibacterial properties. It also leaves your face fresh, so why not add it to your skin routine?
