DIY Dandruff Remedies – Part V

We’ve already seen a few Dandruff Remedies over the last few weeks. Here’s the last one in the series and then we will move to other topics.

Neem Oil

Take a spoon each of Olive Oil and Neem Oil and apply this mixture to your scalp. Let it sit for 30 minutes before washing off. You can do this twice a week. A rich antibacterial, Neem Oil can keep dandruff at bay.

Witch Hazel

Take equal quantities of Water and Witch Hazel in a spritzer and shake to combine. Now, spray this to your hair and scalp and massage your scalp for a few minutes. Wash off after 15 minutes with a mild shampoo.

If you have an oily scalp, you can apply this mixture to your scalp using a cotton ball to control oil levels and dandruff.

Lavender Oil

Lavender is not only relaxing and soothing, it also a antifungal. Add a few drops of Lavender Essential Oil to your hair oil, or any carrier oil you use for your scalp and massage your scalp for a few minutes. Wash off after half hour.

Jojoba Oil

Take enough Jojoba Oil in a cup. Dip you fingers in the oil and rub them together to warm up the oil and massage your scalp with it for a few minutes. Once you’ve got all areas of your scalp covered, cover your head with a shower cap and wait for 30 minutes before washing off. Jojoba Oil nourishes and moisturizes your dry and scaly scalp and prevents flaking.

Green Tea

Brew a cup of Green Tea in 2 Cups of Water and let it steep for about 10 minutes. Now, let the decoction cool down and then, apply it on your scalp. Massage your scalp and wait for 30 minutes before you wash off. Green tea is rich in catechins, which are antifungal. Also, the antioxidants in tea help restore your scalp health.

Oregano Oil

oregano

Add 2 – 3 drops of Oregano Oil to 1 Tbsp. of Olive Oil and massage your scalp with this mixture. Let it sit for 30 minutes before washing off. Oregano is a strong oil, so do a patch test to be safer.

Rosemary Oil

To your hair oil, or any carrier oil, add a few drops of Rosemary Essential Oil and massage the mixture to your scalp. I prefer using Coconut Oil or Olive for this. After massaging your scalp, wrap it with a hot towel and let it sit for 30 minutes before washing off. Rosemary Oil is known to fight dandruff and promote a healthy scalp.

These are a few dandruff remedies you could try, along with the ones we have listed earlier. All these are natural, but pick and choose based on your requirements, availability and preference. You might have to try more than just remedy, as what works for some might not work as well, for others.
