Tips to Tweak the Recipe
Magnesium Flakes are optional and add texturizing effect in this recipe – especially ideal for those with wavy hair. It adds more bounce to the waves. However, Magnesium adds a nice twist to the recipe and gives your curls and waves a bounce, while also texturizing them. You can also add Epsom Salt if you prefer that better.
Black Lava Salt is a favorite of mine, ever since I got a stash of it. So, I came up with this recipe. However, you can use any salt and don’t have to go hunting for this salt. Any salt works just fine 😉
Aloe Vera Gel is optional too. I like that it combats the dryness and frizz that comes after using salt spray. You can also use Glycerine instead, or along with Aloe Gel.
You can also add a few drops of conditioning oils, or essential oils to this recipe.
Why Black Lava Salt?
All other ingredients in this recipe are pretty usual and we’ve already used them. Black Lava Salt is the highlight of this recipe and first time we’ve probably used it in one of our recipes. So, wondering what’s special about it?
Rich in minerals, Black Lava Salt is a treasure for hair care. Thinning due to hair fall and receding hairline can be curbed with this salt. It enhances hair growth due to the nutrients, and hence an ideal way to combat hair loss. Besides, it is also known to curb split ends and dandruff.
Black Lava Salt is originally from Hawaii, where the lava colors the salt black. However, lava enriched salts are available in different locations around the world, including India where it is called Black Salt.
However, nowadays, normal sea salt is colored black using Charcoal and you might not get the same benefits as ones colored due to Lava. However, charcoal is good in its own way and helps with detoxing the skin.
Having the said, this salt gets its color and name from Lava and there are different versions of this salt around the world. Try what you find locally, instead of sweating over something you can’t find or just use a natural salt that you can find wherever you live ☺
How to Use the Spray?
Spray on your locks, scrunch and voila! You have beach waves once your hair air-dries. Cool right?
