We’ve heard all about Hair Rinses but it is not a fad and really helps with hair care. There are different options and this berry rinse is ideal for those with dark hair.
We have seen a lot of different rinses for hair care and will be seeing more in the future too. This one is one of my favorites and a lucky find. With my dark hair I have been on the look out for something other than tea or coffee, considering I drink a lot of coffee and did not want to add more of them on my scalp too!
So, I was dabbling with berries wondering if it can be used and a little search and talking to a few friends on this topic, I realized it could be done. So, here’s what I did for your trials and temptations!
Ingredients
Blackberries – 2
Blueberries – 2
Blackberry Leaves – a handful
Acai Berry Leaves – a Spoon
Water
Instructions
Heat about a liter of water on your stove.
Add in the leaves and bring them to a boil – make sure you use medium heat. You can let it boil for seven minutes on low – medium heat.
Crush the berries and add them in – I usually add them after removing the water from the stove and letting it cool down a bit. However, you can also add it to the boiling water and let it sit for half a minute if you prefer.
Done.
Let the mixture cool down fully, filter and it’s good to go.
How to Use the Rinse?
After shampooing your hair pour this rinse on your hair and massage it through your strands and scalp. Wait for 2 – 3 minutes before rinsing off with water again.
Why These Ingredients?
Berries are nutrition powerhouses and rich in antioxidants. It can really enhance your hair health and shine.
Depending on the berry(ies) you choose, t will also give you mid highlights or enhance your highlights r your hair color.
Also, the berry leaves cleanse the scalp and give dandruff the boot according to my friends. I have relied on Margosa Rinse and Camphor in my hair oil to keep Dandruff at bay.
I like the shiny strands I get after this rinse. I don’t get fresh berry leaves often, but I get the dried ones and use it. You can do that too. Many natural stores now house berry leave for herbal teas.
Last but not the least, the rich nourishing and nutritious rinse overall helps your hair and scalp health and the antioxidants fight hair fall.
As always, feel free to tweak the recipe according to your requirements, preference and ingredients available. I have loved to switch my rinses depending the season and love using seasonal ingredients in my skin and hair care routine .
