Why These Ingredients?

Oregano Essential Oil – Oregano Essential Oil is not only uplifting and invigorating, it’s also antiviral, anti-inflammatory and antifungal. It prevents scores of problems and allergies.

Spearmint Essential Oil – Termed the gentler mint, spearmint is powerful in it’s own right. Its menthol content is lesser than peppermint but I like that this is gentler and warm. It is also ideal for elders, babies and those with sensitive skin. It’s still a powerful antifungal, antibacterial, antiviral, anti-inflammatory and more.  It’s a great skin cleaner and soothes itchy and dry skin.

Tea Tree Essential Oil – Well-known essential oil that’s used for a lot of skin and hair care purposes. It is a very good antiseptic, antifungal and antibacterial and fights against microbes like fungi and germs that trigger infections.  It’s a natural defense against itching caused due to excess oil, or microbial activity.

Bay Essential Oil – This oil is widely used to curb hair loss and promote hair growth. It’s also useful to curb microbial activity and brings clarity to the mind and thought process. During the current times, the grounding properties of this oil are a great aid. Don’t you think so?

Witch Hazel – We all use Witch Hazel as an astringent but do you know it makes a great base for essential oils? Yes, so when you want to prepare something that’s not oily, Witch Hazel is a good base to work with. This additionally helps to regulate scalp’s oil levels, get rid of scalp itch and also tightens follicles. It soothes and calms an irritated scalp.

Tips to Tweak Recipe

This recipe is more suited for those with oily scalp. While it can be used by anyone, if you find it leaving your hair dry try oiling your hair – Argan Oil is light and can be used everyday.

Alternatively, those with dry scalp can go with an oil-based recipe. Jojoba Oil, Argan Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Black Seed Oil, Apricot Oil are light and nourishing oils that you can consider.

Glycerin is another alternative for those who don’t want to use carrier oil.

As always, feel free to tweak the recipe to suit your needs and requirements. We will be adding another recipe that can be used by everyone including those with dry scalp. While this does work for dry scalp, some might find it drying. So, try it and let us know how it goes.
