DIY Hair Growth Serum

When your hair growth rate is less, or when your hair loss rate is high, your scalp will need a little help to get back on track. This hair growth serum does just that.

Hair growth can be a problem for many due to various reasons. But it could be easily handled naturally, with a few simple changes. One such change is using a serum for nourishing your hair and scalp. This is one of my favorite hair serum recipes. Ready for it?

Jojoba Oil – 1 Oz.
Vitamin E Oil – 1 Tbsp.
Sweet Almond Oil – 1 Oz.
Rosemary Essential Oil – 20 Drops
Lavender Essential Oil – 20 Drops
Olive Oil – 1 Oz.

Instructions

Mix all the ingredients together in a dark amber glass bottle and shake gently.

Let it sit for 2 days, before you start using it.

How to Use the Serum?

Gently massage the serum into your scalp and massage your scalp for a few minutes.

Just apply this to your hair, if needed – for examples the ends if they’re dry.

Do this at night, so your hair won’t be oily when you head out next morning.

However, little goes a long way for this recipe. So, you don’t have to apply liberally, just make sure you apply this all over your scalp sparingly.

Tips to Tweak the Recipe

I usually infuse the Olive Oil with False Daisy and Margosa Leaves before combing the ingredients for the recipe. I add the crushed leaves to Olive Oil and keep it in sun for about two weeks, during the day till the oil is fully infused.

If you want a lighter version, you can swap the Olive Oil for Coconut Oil or Mustard Oil, or even reduce the quantity of Olive Oil. However, I did not find this too heavy. Unless you have fine hair, it won’t weigh your hair down. If it does, skip or reduce Olive Oil, as the other oils are light and non-greasy.

You can add Cedarwood Essential Oil, as it promotes Hair Growth, to this recipe. I usually swap between different Essential Oils to keep the recipe different to suit my requirements and moods.

You can add Tea Tree Essential Oil if your have dandruff or other scalp problems including itching.

If you like the smell of Coffee, you can infuse the Olive Oil with Ground Coffee instead of herbs, or along with them. Rich in antioxidants and nutrients, coffee can nourish your hair and scalp and improve hair growth.

Basically, all the ingredients included in the recipe promote hair growth by nourishing your hair and scalp. However, you can make changes to this recipe to suit your hair and scalp requirements. After all, we all love DIY Recipes because we can play around with the ingredients and combinations right? So, feel free to experiment and identify the right combination that works for you.
