Method

There’s no rocket Science behind preparing this Argan Oil for Skin salve. You need to add all the oils into a dark-colored glass bottle with a dropper and shake slightly. You’re done! How difficult was that?

Usage

You can use it directly after washing your face, before shaving or mix a few drops to your shaving gel and apply it. You can then proceed to how you shave normally! Keep the bottle away from direct sunlight, as essential oils are volatile.

Why use a Before-Shave Salve?

A before-shave salve tends to make your hair smoother and easier to shave.

Minor cuts or bruises are avoided and even if you end-up nicking, Lavender essential is a mild antiseptic and good to take care of the cuts.

It leaves your skin soft and moisturized. Aren’t these reasons good enough?

Tweaking the Recipe

Those with nut allergies might want to avoid Sweet Almond Oil and can substitute with Virgin or Fractionated Coconut Oil. Camellia Seed oil or Hazelnut oil are closer alternatives who prefer other oils over Sweet Almond Oil.

Those with oily skin can reduce the quantity of Sweet Almond oil and increase Argan oil or use drying or light oils, if you fear breakouts. Light or drying oils include Apricot kernel oil, rosehip oil, grapeseed oil and Canola oil.

Though I personally love Lavender oil, for its many benefits, aroma and calming properties, you can substitute with other similar essential oils like Roman or German Chamomile or any other essential oil of your choice or liking.

What’s with the ingredients?

Coconut Oil

Touted as the “affordable Olive Oil” and widely available, coconut oil is a favorite with many. It is a multipurpose oil that’s used for infinite purposes, leave alone skin care. It moisturizes the skin and a firsthand rescue remedy if your skin is left parched or peeled due to winter!

Not only does it moisturize and restore your skin back to normal, it also prevents and treats infection due to the anti-fungal and antibacterial properties. It can effectively soften your hair and make it easy to shave, besides taking care of razor burn and itching. Those who don’t like Almond Oil, feel free to swap it for Coconut oil.

Grapeseed Oil

It is an excellent moisturizer that reduces and prevents acne breakouts. Yes, grapeseed oil can tighten the skin, close your pores and ensure the pores aren’t clogged triggering acne. Being rich in antioxidants and anti-inflammatory agents, it can help treat and curb acne. It fights aging and reduces under eye circles.

It retains moisture and keeps skin hydrated, which is very important to ensure skin is soft and supple. That’s not all. It cleans your pores, helps soothe eczema and psoriasis, makes skin tone even and protects collagen. When used before pre-shave, it is a good moisturizer and makes shaving easy. It suits those with oily or acne-prone skin, as it is non-comedogenic.

Avocado Oil

It is rich in protein and essential fatty acids, making it a great skin lotion. Avocado oil is rich in Vitamin A, so cleanses skin of dead cells. The amino acid called glutamine amino in this oil helps cleanse skin gently and protects against pollution and other environment inflicted damage.

It is rich in antioxidants, so nourishes and detoxifies your body. It also delays aging skin signs like wrinkles and ensures skin looks radiantly young and healthy. It also helps relieve itching and dryness and promotes collagen production. It also helps with healing, making it a good addition to pre-shave slave.
