Bad hair days aren’t uncommon. We’ve all had it at one point or the other. So, how do different women or even men deal with it? Let’s take a look, shall we?
Dealing with Hard Water
Hard water can play havoc with your tresses. Using a vinegar rinse helps but after you pour hard water it is for naught. So just what can you do? One of my friends suggested I use pure drinking water to rinse my hair finally and that it helps. I am not proud that I absolutely laughed when I heard it the first time. But seeing her serious expression and her beseeching me to try it once made me TRY it. And what a discovery it was. Yes, my tresses were soft when I rinsed out with pure drinking water or bottled water – if there’s no other access to soft water. You can condition after, if you do.
Hair that Lacks Luster
Does your lack luster and shine? Try using hair serum to spruce up your hair real quick and make it lustrous and shiny.
Greasy, Oily or Limp Hair
Is your hair oily, limp or greasy? Spruce your hair real quick without a shower – Dry Shampoo or Towelling. For a quick and easy dry shampoo use baby powder or any fine starch flour (corn flour, arrowroot powder, rice powder, etc). You can add cocoa powder to this if you have dark locks. Apply the starch powder or mixture to your roots and wait for a few seconds. Brush your hair. Little goes a long way with dry shampoo, so add as you need little by little.
Towelling – You can either use a dry towel or wet and dry towel. For a dry towel spritz whatever natural perfume you use on the towel (optional) and just towel your hair and roots to get rid of excess oil. For a wet towel, add a few drops of essential oil to a little warm water and wet the towel slightly and towel your hair and scalp. Dry it using your blow dryer or under the sun after towelling with a dry towel. Both these methods will leave your hair flowy and fresh.
Backcomb
NO, this is not very good for your hair health. But once in a while, backcombing can give a fuller look to your hair. This works better for straight hair.
Braiding
Many don’t think of braids as an option to hide bad hair days. There are cultures where braiding is the norm and they have really long and dense hair, courtesy to their regular braids probably. Having that said, braiding hair can give you a much better look especially when it’s done a couple of days or so after shower. Besides, there are tons of different braiding ideas so you can get creative with it.
Style Your Frizz
You don’t have to always have perfect hair. Is your hair frizzy? Make do with a bun or other chic looks to hide it. Not just braids, buns, or even other hairstyles can work great to hide frizzy hair.
Hairband!
NO, it’s not just for kids. I will absolutely take offence considering I always use it, as I don’t like my hair falling on my face 😉 Pull up a hair band, tease your hair and let it flow, or braid just one side, or opt for stylish dos like pulling up your hair and clipping it, salt spray styles, messy styles, etc.
Partial Wash
This is just an illusion, much like styling your hair. If you hair looks frizzy, wash a portion or a side of your head – if you have bangs, just wash that. This will create an illusion of freshly showered hair 😉
