DIY Gingerbread Hair Butter

Wondering what to do with the left over Ginger Bread Spice you have on your counter? How about Ginger Bread Spice Hair Butter?

It’s been a while since we tried hair butter and this one is quite the rage. I love the way this butter smells but the most important thing is that this is very good for your hair ☺

Ingredients

Shea Butter – 4 Tbsp.
Argan Oil – 1 Tsp.
Ground Ginger – 1 Tsp.
Almond Oil – 4 Tbsp.
Vanilla Extract – a few drops
Cinnamon Powder – ¼ Tsp.
Nutmeg Powder – ¼ Tsp.
Vitamin E Oil – 1 Tsp.

Instructions

Melt Shea Butter and set aside when fully melted.

Add in the Almond Oil, followed by Argan Oil & Vitamin E Oil.

Stir to combine.

Now add the Vanilla Extract, Nutmeg and Cinnamon powders.

Refrigerate the mixture for a few minutes till it is slightly solidified.

Whisk on medium – high till you get a fluffy butter that smells like Gingerbread Cookies all the way 😉

Transfer to a sterilized jar and set aside.

Done!

Tips to Tweak the Recipe

You can add the Vanilla Extract and Cinnamon and Nutmeg Powders after cooling down the oil and butter mixture.

You can also use Ginger Oil and Nutmeg Oil but this works best in my opinion.

Tweak the ratios to suit your requirements and preference– less cinnamon if you’re sensitive, less cinnamon and nutmeg if your scalp tingles, etc.

You can use Cocoa Butter instead of Shea Butter if you don’t have oily scalp.

You can also use other butters or oils including Mango Butter, Kokum Butter, etc. Also the choice of oils can be according to your requirement and preference – Avocado Oil, Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, Tamanu Oil, etc. are all other carrier oils you can consider based on your requirement.

You can also Gingerbread Spice instead of adding the ingredients separately, as the idea is to use up the left over spice.

Why These Ingredients?

Because they smell delicious? 😛 Anyways, Shea Butter is all round good for your hair and it’s a great moisturizer and leaves your locks soft and silky.

Cinnamon and Nutmeg not only smell like Christmas and Gingerbread cookies with Vanilla, they’re also great for boosting for your hair growth and keeping your scalp healthy among other things.

How to Use the Hair Butter?

Take a small dollop and apply on the strands. Style as usual.

It is actually light, so you can also apply to your scalp for moisturization and nourishment.

Shelf Life

It lasts a good few weeks. I usually don’t keep it for more than a month or two – to retain freshness of the ingredients. The shelf life is according to the ingredients added – take in account the shortest shelf life of the ingredients and go from there.
