DIY Leave-in Conditioner for Thin Hair

It’s been a while since we saw leave-in conditioner. So, I thought why not do a fruity leave-in conditioner?

I wanted to prepare something fruity and nourishing for my hair that can work as a leave-in. I really loved a leave-in I used until I realized that the natural claim on the bottle wasn’t 100% true.

But I loved how it helped with detangling, left my hair soft and silky and whatnot. After a lot of trial and error, I found out a recipe that worked just like that. Now that it crossed the guinea pig stage and fit for use, I wanted to add it here so you can all try it ☺

Ingredients

Apricot oil – ½ Tbsp.
Avocado Oil – 1 Tbsp.
Grapeseed Oil – 1 Tbsp.
Pomegranate Seed Oil – 1 Tsp.
Argan Oil – 1 Tbsp.
Sweet Marjoram EO – 10 Drops

Instructions

In a spritzer add all the oils together.

Stir gently and let it sit for two days.

Done!

How to Use the Conditioner?

Spray the conditioner on your hair lightly and style as usual. I rub it all over my strands before I start style. You can also use this as a pre-shower treatment; however, this version is light and works as a leave-in. I recommend using this after drying your hair, though it works for wet hair too.

You can go with hair strengthening and nourishing options like Castor, What Germ Oil, Vitamin E Oil, etc. They’re not light but nourishing and affordable too. They are thick and with addition of Coconut or Olive Oil make great pre-shower treatment.

Tips to Tweak the Recipe

You can also use Watermelon Seed Oil, Grapeseed Oil, Sunflower Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, etc.

Essential Oils are what you like, prefer and need. I like the calming and enticing aroma of Sweet Marjoram especially for this recipe, as it pairs well with the other fragrances.

You can use Ylang Ylang, Tangerine, Lavender, Geranium or even lemon Essential Oil. You can try out different variations and go with what works for you best.

Who is this Conditioner Ideal for?

This is an ideal conditioner for those with thin, dry or frizzy hair.

Why These Ingredients?

Leaves your air smelling nice, manageable, soft and shiny. It makes detangling easy and strengthens your hair. It doesn’t weigh down your hair and is light and non-greasy. What more can you ask for?

If you plan to use it as pre-shower, go with strengthening and nourishing oils that aren’t light, so you can wash them off. I prepare two batches one for pre-shower and one post-shower.
